Green Premium, noun

The additional cost to buy “green” goods (aka those better for the environment) over what you pay for the “normal” version.

For example, plant based meat costs about $10/pound, whereas ground beef likely costs less than $5/pound. That extra $5+ is the green premium. This price disparity exists for a few reasons, but most times, it’s due to an economy of scale. Many eco-innovations are relatively new and still working to get off the ground. With more buy-in, production and competition can increase, which will lower the cost. If you’re able, buying goods at the green premium cost will help reduce it in the long run. And that’s as far as I’ll go pretending to know about the economy…
