The Year Earth Changed

on Apple TV+

I know this documentary has been out for a while and I know Apple TV+ isn’t the most common streaming service, but if you haven’t seen it yet and have access, I would definitely recommend spending the time to watch this. It’s narrated by David Attenborough (of course) and highlights cities across the world during peak lockdowns of the pandemic. Wildlife native to those areas starts coming back into the deserted spaces and thrives in ways they haven’t for years.

It’s interesting to see the cities and landscapes empty of humans and even better to see these animals taking over the spaces that, in most cases, were originally theirs in the first place. I’ll try not to spoil much, but a warning that side effects may include spiraling anxiety about how we’re quickly and single-handedly destroying the earth…but otherwise super great documentary! Seriously, though, it’s worth the watch.
