Bamboo is great for a lot of reasons, mostly because it’s highly renewable and durable. Like many things, though, it’s not perfect in it’s current state. Since bamboo is the up-and-coming trendy eco-material, land in some parts of the world is being cleared to only only grow bamboo. This isn’t good because we’re
- losing the natural vegetation that’s being cut down and
- losing diversity in the ecosystems where the bamboo is being grown
which can have widespread impacts I won’t go into now. A lot of bamboo production currently happens in China, which also contributes to the global shipping emissions are produced when people like me in the US order bamboo TP.
